That Glow Life

The freshest of all makeup looks has to be the dewy skin look. Now I wish that my skin was naturally glowing and radiant. But it's not. So, we fake it! I use powder and cream highlighter to target the high points of my face and give me my beloved glow.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector - Champagne Pop £32.00
I wasn't sure whether I should talk about this or not as it is such  popular product but I love it so much that I couldn't not talk about it! This highlight is so buttery and creamy and just melts into the skin so just looks like you are glowing from within. It's a white gold colour with pink/peachy undertones that look amazing on the majority of skin tones - I am white as a sheet most of the time and because this highlight is more of a white gold than a yellow gold it isn't too dark. Of all of the highlights I am going to mention Champagne Pop is the most dramatic, but this is good if you want that blinding highlight  (especially if you spritz a bit of Mac fix + on the brush before applying). I'd say this is the highlighter I reach for every time I do my makeup at the moment.

Mac Mineralize Skin Finish - Soft and Gentle £24.50
An oldie but a goodie; soft and gentle is a cult classic and is definitely one of my faves. It is on the more glittery side when compared to champagne pop but not in a gritty way. Champagne pop is more of a gold champagne colour whereas soft and gentle is a true champagne so has the pink under tone that suits paler skin tones. It can be both worn as a dramatic highlight but also blends out into a more natural finish; this means it can be worn during the day or on a night out so is very versatile - definitely worth the money if you want a 'one product fits all' kinda highlighter.

Sleek Highlighting Palette in Cleopatra's Kiss £10.00
This palette is so affordable at only £10 for 4 shades the quality is amazing. There are two creams and two powders with golden under tones throughout. The darkest of the powder shades has the creamiest formula and is so pigmented that one swipe leaves you glowing for days! The more pinky champagne toned powder has a different formula which is the only downside to this palette. It has very small amounts of glitter within it so it is less creamy and has more a hard gritty texture making the pigment pay off is minimal. I still can't complain as it is a beautiful subtle highlight and for the price it doesn't bother me. I have to say I don't really use cream highlighters very often but both are very pigmented and blendable. They also sit well on top of powder so are great if you prefer applying your cream highlight after you powder. Of course I can't not mention the fact that you can layer the powder shades on top of the creams to achieve that extra blinding glow!

I have found a new love for matte foundations as they dry down fully on my skin and stay put for hours but with this I sacrifice the natural dewy look. So I have been looking at purchasing the Cover FX Custom Enhancing Drops or the Iconic London Liquid Illuminator to mix with my foundation to combine the setting properties of the foundation with the dewiness of the highlight. Let me know in the comments or on social media if you have tried these and how they have worked out for you, I'd really love your opinion on them.
