Mental Health Matters

Image
Life is hard .   So hard. Sometimes it messes with your head and you can't seem to figure out which way is up. Some people go through horrendous experiences and are fine, others are scarred. Some people have led perfectly normal lives but struggle to cope with day to days things. It never seems to make sense to me, there isn't always an explanation for how you feel. That is the most frustrating part. This leads me into my disclaimer: Everyone is different and the things we go through cannot be compared. This is my story, mine and only mine. Please do not compare this to your personal experiences and feelings. I hope that this blog will serve as my way of expressing who I am, but also a way of showing you that you are not alone. If I can help anyone in anyway I have achieved what I set out to do.  Loneliness, self loathing and frustration.  From an early age I felt as though I couldn't possibly fit in, nobody could love me. I remember feeling uncomfortable in my skin, like...

We Wear Black in Spring

Image
So I recently hit a blogger milestone.. my first photo shoot. I have to admit I was quite nervous to post this but what the heck - haters gonna hate but it's all about promoting body confidence and I'm going to embrace my body and have fun! No matter what the weather outside I always seem to wear black so it seems fitting that my first post should happen to be an almost completely black outfit. I guess the classic English weather means that dressing for all four seasons with the same wardrobe choices is quite easy. I absolutely love the current bodysuit trend especially with a lacy bra as it is so sexy but is still quite understated at the same time. I combined this with my favourite ripped jeans from Topshop and my khaki Primark long line bomber jacket. To top it all of and add that pop of colour for spring - my fluffy pink sliders from Ego that are sooooo freaking gorgeous! Outfit Details: (I've added links to the items I could find ...

Really.. a half marathon?

Image
Okay so I think I may have had a little crazy moment a couple of months back when I decided to run a half marathon for charity. A friend at work mentioned she was going to enter the Chester half marathon on the 21st May 2017 and me being the impulsive person I am decided to join her. The first thing I had to tackle was what charity I should run for. This was a simple decision for me as I have always wanted to raise money for a charity that helps individuals with eating disorders. Eating disorder are something that I have been affected by so I know how challenging they can be to overcome. I decided to run for B-eat who offer advice and help to those suffering but also to their friends and family. If you want to check out their website click here and take a look at what they can offer. So the next phase of my half marathon training was the actual training and if I am honest I had no idea where to start. I took to the App store to find an app that could help me figure out how to...

That Glow Life

Image
The freshest of all makeup looks has to be the dewy skin look. Now I wish that my skin was naturally glowing and radiant. But it's not. So, we fake it! I use powder and cream highlighter to target the high points of my face and give me my beloved glow. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector - Champagne Pop £32.00 I wasn't sure whether I should talk about this or not as it is such  popular product but I love it so much that I couldn't not talk about it! This highlight is so buttery and creamy and just melts into the skin so just looks like you are glowing from within. It's a white gold colour with pink/peachy undertones that look amazing on the majority of skin tones - I am white as a sheet most of the time and because this highlight is more of a white gold than a yellow gold it isn't too dark. Of all of the highlights I am going to mention Champagne Pop is the most dramatic, but this is good if you want that blinding highlight  (especially if you spritz a bit of Ma...

Gym Wear Favourites

Image
Having recently started back in the gym as well as training for my half marathon, I go through gym clothes like nobody's business. They seem to be the only thing I wear at the moment so I needed to purchase some good quality gym wear. I have two separate types as I prefer different types of legging for the gym and for running. For running I prefer a legging that has a higher waist with a thicker band at the top to ensure they don't fall down but also a thicker material with longer length in the legs. In the gym I prefer a thinner material with a slightly lower waist band so thy are more flexible for movements like squats - so basically the complete opposite of my running leggings! At the moment I am absolutely loving Tesco's F&F for clothing in general - they have really upped their game - but particularly their active wear line.  I have had many pairs of leggings from them in the past and I have worn them out with running in them so much. My favourite pair at the m...

Confidence

Image
Visiting home this weekend I sat with my sister scrolling through pages and pages of dresses on multiple fashion websites. The common theme on every website.. bodycon. Both of us make comments on items we love but every comment is accompanied by that familiar thought; 'I don't have the body for that'. In the time that we live in it is such a common thought among many of us. One of the reasons I wanted to start my blog was to allow me to evolve as an individual and gain confidence in myself. During the short time that my blog has been up and running I have experienced so many thoughts of self doubt; 'No you can't do any fashion posts yet because you don't have the body, people won't like them', ‘You don’t have the amazing set up and confidence to pose in front of others so your photos won’t be good enough quality’. And what amazes me the most is that I believe those thoughts and in essence hold myself back. We can all say that we love looking a...

Wet Brush Review

Image
Every day I have to brush my hair at least once maybe even twice. Now for most people this takes 2 minutes and is a virtually pain free experience (lucky things!). Not for me. I have such long and thick hair that, let's be honest, isn't in the best of conditions and so it's like dragging the brush through layers and layers of knots. There have been many products on the market over the years that claim to detangle your hair. They never worked. Detangling spray, correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't work - at least not for me. The tanlgeteezer was something I invested in a couple of years ago but again I was met with disappointment. Although it did detangle the top layer of my hair, it wouldn't brush through the depth of my hair and it was still quite a painful process. So we come to the wet brush. Reading reviews and watching Youtube videos on this product I'm pretty sure this was a very hyped up product when it first launched. Although this is the case I hadn...
